AA2: THE GAMBIA –ROOTS REVE

First class beachfront hotels, and gourmet dinning, wrestling matches, and tie-dye Gambia came into International focus through Alex Haley’s book, “Roots,” a chronicle of his ancestry. A leisurely cruise on the River Gambia will take you through James Island to Juffure. A 3-day extension tour to Gambia can be arranged from Senegal or a week long package from New York.

Mali is an ancient empire with many legendary cities along the Niger River. Timbuktu, Djenne, Mopti, Dogan, Segou. Enjoy tea rituals with The Blue men, and buy unique artifacts, do some trekking in the desert. The trip to the Dogan people; who live in caves atop the Bandiagara cliffs, is a memorable experience. 

Itinerary 8-Night Package: 
Day 1:
 Arrive Bamako, transfer to Grand Hotel or similar 

Day 2:  Tour Bamako, a brash cacophony of music,Motorbikes, wheelers & dealers in and around, The Grande  Marche. The museum offers a fascinating Collection of art and mini architectural displays

Day 3: Full day excursion to Koulikoro, visiting several villages, along the river. See Dance of the Marionettes. Return to Bamako

Day 4: Morning flight to legendary Timbuktu, tour and overnight

Day 5: Morning flight to Mopti, pirogue ride visiting villages. Experience sunset on the Niger River before return to your hotel

Day 6: DJENNE: Full day guided tour of historic Djenne. Tour the large, well preserved mosque noted for its architecture. Visit the local market for blankets and unique jewelry.

Day 7: The Dogan Country: Full day tour of the fascinating Dogan where cliff dwelling tribes preserve elaborate cultivation and traditional rites. Visit Sangha village atop the Bandiagara cliffs, go inside homes and buy distinctive Dogan carvings. Pm return to Mopti. 

Day 8: Morning flight to Bamako, evening return to USA.

 
  
AA4 LOBI and SENOUFO , BURKINA FASO

A land where traditions are perennials, the west of Burkina Faso will give you the opportunity to meet a genuine Africa. The aim of this trip is to meet local peoples and all of their activities (social, traditional and professional).

DAY 1 :   arrival in OUAGADOUGOU, transfer , diner and night at Palm Beach hotel***.

DAY 2 : after breakfast, departure to BOBO DIOULASSO. A first stop to see sacred crocodiles that live in the pond of SABOU. Lunch at BOROMO, a place where you will, maybe, meet elephants. At least, at KORO, you will visit a small Bobo’s village built on the rock. Diner and night at the Auberge hotel***.

DAY 3 : second town of the Burkina Faso, BOBO DIOULASSO is a greenness city. Tour of the museum where are represented in live size Senoufo’s, Peulh’s, Bobo’s houses. You will also discover its old district and its mosque in banco built more than à century ago. After diner an evening party with traditional music is foreseen for those who are interested. Diner and night at the Auberge hotel ***.

DAY 4 : departure to BANFORA, where you will tour sugar cane plantations. A stop to admire the domes of FABEDOUGOU ( looking as real calcareous cathedrals carved by erosion), followed by a walk around the waterfalls of KERFIGUELA where bathing is possible. Then you will sail with a pirogue on the lake of TENGRELA and look for hippopotamus. Diner and night at the Sugar Cane hotel in Banfora

DAY 5 : Lunch in BOROMO (local restaurant). You will arrive at Ouaga in the middle of the afternoon. Diner and spending night in Palm Beach hotel***.

DAY 6 : tour of OUAGADOUGOU with its bronze makers, its market and its crafts-men’s center. Transfer to the airport during the afternoon.

AA6: GHANA – Land Of Gold 

Ghana origin of Pan-African ideals held by President Kwame Nkrumah, and Du Bois. Accra offers a friendly and warm population. 15 Forts Dating back five hundred years, recall the sad history of exploitation and slavery. Talented Ashanti people in the heartlands produce “Kente” cloth, and intricate wood carvings.

AA7: BENIN – ORIGIN OF VOODO
Benin was known as the ancient kingdom of Dahomey; also associated with the warrior Amazon women, Voodoo worship and batik art. Three must see cites include the picturesque village of Ganvie, Ouidah, the home of Voodoo and Abomey, the ancient capital. For the more adventurous tourist a visit to the Panjari wildlife park in the North offers unique architectural designs.

Itinerary 7-day Package
Day 1: Arrive Cotonou and transfer to hotel

Day 2: Full day tour of Cotonou and Porto Novo Visit the museum, market and port

Day 3: Visit Ouidah, the home of Voodoo, the museum and snake worshipers. The museum features ancient relics and historical photos. A visit to the sacred forest and the Tomb of the founder of Haiti. Continue by pirogue to Ganvie. The villagers conduct all their business by pirogue. After Lunch and return to Cotonou

Day 4: Visit Abomey, the walled –in city built in 1658. The Historic museum has a fine collection of tapestries, The tombs of previous kings, and the blacksmiths workshop noted for bronze, copper and iron design works. Overnight

Day 5: Return to Cotonou, rest of day at leisure
